Upcoming launch of the territorial strategy of the Western Functional Area
The key novelty of the INTERREG POCTEFA (2021-2027) lies in the approach of functional areas or living areas, translating into new funding modalities and specific actions aimed at improving the quality of life for cross-border citizens.
On Thursday, December 14, the strategic document for the West Functional Area will be presented within the framework of the new programming period of POCTEFA 2021-2027. This event, taking place at FICOBA (Irun), will highlight the program's main innovation: a greater territorialization of FEDER funds aligned with Political Objective 5: "Europe closer to its citizens."
The West Functional Area, one of the five identified by the POCTEFA program, stands out for its intense human, cultural, linguistic, and social interconnections.
The AFOMEF Integrated Territorial Strategy establishes a shared roadmap that will seek, in the coming years, to address the daily challenges of residents in the perimeter of the West Functional Area.
An innovative, multi-themed, and integrative approach that values the potential of territories and addresses challenges in an integrated manner through its own territorial strategy in the areas of employment, mobility, and communication from a cross-border perspective.
The presentation of the strategy marks a crucial milestone in the sustainable development of the West Functional Area and lays the foundation for effective collaboration and a significant improvement in the quality of life for cross-border citizens.
