Description
The TRANSFERMUGI project tackles the challenge of improving cross-border mobility in the Euroregion, responding to the increasing need for more efficient and sustainable connectivity in the Western Functional Area. Currently, the lack of transportation services in border areas, excessive use of private vehicles, and high traffic of goods create mobility issues that affect the quality of life and the development of the territory. To address these challenges, TRANSFERMUGI seeks to provide sustainable and accessible solutions for both people and goods. Its cross-border approach will improve the interoperability of transportation services, overcoming administrative and technical barriers between both countries.
Main actions
- Implementation of pilot railway and bus transport projects to improve cross-border connectivity.
- Conducting studies on railway infrastructure and traffic to optimize public transport use and sustainable mobility.
- Improving strategic stops, such as Deux Jumeaux, to facilitate access and intermodality.
- Integrating advanced technology to improve the user experience, including real-time information on transportation services.
- Conducting pilot tests to promote sustainable cross-border mobility alternatives, reducing car dependency, and facilitating freight transport.
