EMPLEO EGUNAK: INFORMATION DAYS FOR CROSS-BORDER WORKERS AND COMPANIES

The Nouvelle-Aquitaine Euskadi Navarra Euroregion (NAEN) is organising, on 17 and 18 November in Hendaye, the third edition of the Cross-Border Information Days – EMPLEO Egunak, an essential event for workers and companies in the cross-border area. This gathering, held in collaboration with public administrations from both sides of the border, aims to provide information on the rights and obligations of cross-border workers.

A one-stop service for citizens

Over two days, cross-border workers and companies within the Euroregional area will be able to meet directly with representatives from key administrations: URSSAF, DGFIP, France Travail, LANBIDE, Navarre Employment Service, INSS, TGSS, CARSAT, CPAM, CAF, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, and the Tax Authority of Navarra.

In one single venue, participants will receive clear and coordinated answers on key topics such as taxation, unemployment, pensions, social security, healthcare coverage, qualification recognition, or cross-border teleworking.

Previous editions have confirmed the effectiveness of this format: in 2024, more than 250 individual meetings were held with over 150 participants, most of whom consulted several organisations.

Sergio Pérez, Director-General for External Action of the Government of Navarra, explains:

“EMPLEO Egunak is based on the one-stop shop approach: in one place, workers can meet all the competent administrations, raise their questions, and obtain clear and coordinated answers.”

Beyond direct support for citizens, these days foster cooperation between administrations, enabling them to identify common problems and jointly develop sustainable solutions.

An event within the framework of the European project LANEAN – AFOMEF POCTEFA

The EMPLEO-Egunak days form part of the European project LANEAN, cofinanced by the INTERREG VI-A POCTEFA 2021-2027 programme within the AFOMEF (Western Functional Area – Mendebaldeko Eremu Funtzionala) framework. The project aims to strengthen a fluid, inclusive and sustainable cross-border employment area that increases job opportunities, reinforces connections between territories, and improves the well-being of cross-border citizens.

Mikel Antón, Director for European Affairs of the Basque Government, explains:

“Through LANEAN we bring together the main public stakeholders in the field of employment from the three territories: France Travail, Lanbide, Servicio Navarro de Empleo, as well as Cap Emploi, Mission Locale Pays Basque, Bidasoa Activa and the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa. Together, we work hand in hand to tackle the major challenges of the cross-border labour market.”

The LANEAN project is structured around three key axes:

1. Joint diagnosis of the cross-border labour market.
2. Creation of a stable network of institutional actors.
3. Development of shared information and support services, among which the EMPLEO-Egunak days stand out.

This project is one of the pillars of the integrated territorial strategy of AFOMEF, coordinated by the Euroregion. Mathieu Bergé, Regional Councillor Delegate for Cross-Border Affairs of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, concludes:
