AFOMEF TO PRESENT SIX INTERREG POCTEFA (2021–2027) CROSS-BORDER COOPERATION PROJECTS AT FICOBA ON 30 JANUARY
AFOMEF will hold on 30 January at FICOBA (Irún) the launch event of the six cross-border cooperation projects of the Western Functional Area: LANEAN, HEZHI, MUGAZIKLO, TRANSFERMUGI, EUSGUNEAK and SAREBIDE, co-financed by the European INTERREG POCTEFA 2021–2027 programme with ERDF funds.
The event will bring together institutional representatives from AFOMEF’s governance bodies, POCTEFA programme authorities and experts from the European Commission, alongside the technical teams responsible for leading and implementing the projects, as well as local entities and key stakeholders in cross-border cooperation.
The projects will take centre stage at the event, highlighting their contribution to the shared challenges of the cross-border territory in key areas such as employment, mobility and multilingualism. Each of these thematic axes will be addressed by European experts, in collaboration with territorial representatives and project partners, providing an integrated overview of the actions already underway and their impact on the cross-border area.
These six projects represent a key milestone in the implementation of AFOMEF’s Integrated Territorial Strategy and of Policy Objective 5 of the POCTEFA programme, which aims to bring Europe closer to citizens and to strengthen the territorial dimension of ERDF funding. They also form part of the ongoing process of consolidating cooperation between the territories of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Euskadi and Navarre.
Through this event, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Euskadi Navarre Euroregion, as coordinator of AFOMEF, reaffirms its commitment to territorial cohesion policies in the cross-border area, to cooperation between administrations and strategic partners, and to the promotion of initiatives that generate a positive and lasting impact on the “living areas” of the functional territory and on the citizens who live there, thereby consolidating genuine territories of cooperation in the cross-border space.
